For many years we’ve been tracking our coaches’ technology usage for their businesses. The recently released 2025 Proponent Group Operations and Compensation Survey looked at six key technology areas: Launch monitors, cameras, video analysis software, lesson scheduling software, student performance tracking software and additional teaching technologies.

Here’s what we found.

Launch Monitors

Trackman (67 percent usage), Foresight (27 percent) and FlightScope (22 percent) have been the top three launch monitors for the past five-plus years. Over the past six years Trackman is up 17 percentage points, Foresight is up 13 points and FlightScope is down 5 points. Fullswing held steady in fourth place at 8 percent market share. Meanwhile, only 2 percent of our coaches report not using a launch monitor when they teach.

Cameras

Apple owns this category with 90 percent of coaches using either an iPhone (57 percent) or an iPad (33 percent) to film their students’ swings. Only 1 percent of coaches said they don’t film student swings.

Video Analysis Software

CoachNow (a division of Golf Genius) continues to extend its lead over V1 in our survey after overtaking V1 last year as the most used video analysis software at 24 percent market share. That total is up six points from a year ago. V1 is in second at 16 percent, down 1 point. As more options continue to come into this space, we saw 13 software packages scoring at least 1 percent usage in this fragmented category.

Lesson Scheduling Software

Electronic scheduling remains extremely fragmented with very little movement at the top of the chart. USchedule continues to lead in market share at 20 percent (level with last year’s survey). Acuity slipped 1 point to 9 percent in second place and ThrivSports (now owned by Golf Genius) moved down 1 point to 8 percent. Google Calendar was fourth at 7 percent usage tied with ForeTees.  Nearly 20 other options were mentioned by our coaches including many using software not specifically designed for the golf industry. Interestingly, those using their PGA of America paper calendars still make up 7 percent of respondents.

On Course Student Performance Tracking Software

Operation 36 (now owned by Golf Genius) racked up the top position with 21 percent market share. Decade was in second at 16 percent while Clippd took third position with 14 percent penetration. SwingU (now owned by Golf Genius) is in fourth at 13 percent. Arrcos came in at 11 percent for the fifth position on the list. Twelve different tracking software packages registered at least 1 percent market share in another fragmented portion of the coaching software market.

Additional Teaching Technologies

The top spot for the seventh year in a row is Blast Motion in use by 49 percent of our member coaches, down 7 points from a year ago. Sportsbox AI – with 45 percent of our coaches already using their three year-old app – is comfortably in second place 18 points ahead of HackMotion (27 percent), BODITRAK (23 percent) and SAM PuttLab (23 percent) rounded out the top five in market share.
